HISTORY
The ISIS World Drill Championships (IWDC) were begun in 2007 under the direction of Mr. Abdul Al-Romaizan. During his high school days at venerable Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania, Mr. Al-Romaizan was captivated by all things drill, graduating from the Military Junior College of Valley Forge as the regimental commander in 2000. He excelled at the Nationals as a competitor and his love of drill and the Nationals has never wained. Mr. Al-Romaizan has attended the Nationals virtually every year since his gratuation and continues to support many of the world's finest and most game-changing military drill projects. Most notable among these include his work on the The Drill Jungle website, the DEVOTED and the ECHO video compilations, the Jean K. Weil Scholarship, as well as the unbelieveable 25th anniversary celebration at the National High School Drill Team Championships.

Wanting a place where the finest individual and dual drillers in the post-high school era can let their craft be seen by the largest number of drill devotees, Mr. Al-Romaizan approached SNI about the posssibility of hosting the ISIS World Drill Championships (IWDC) during the NHSDTC. After careful consideration, it was felt this would be a good fit as the high school cadets interested in the drill would be a natural audience for these post high school drillers, many of whom just a year or two previously (or more for some!) were showing their prowess in the JROTC ranks with schools from across the country.

The ISIS competition was an immediate success on all levels. Thousands annually gravitate to watch these drillers who display a creativity and love of drill that is difficult to replicate as a part of a high school drill unit. The tension and atmosphere of so many great drillers competing back to back at such a high level of proficiency in such a magnificant setting in front of thousands creates an aura that is unparalleled within the world of drill.

THE EVENT
ISIS competition is open to all post-high school drillers who maintain the skills and determination to display their craft. Many are involved in college, as well as active-duty military, along with those who just continue to drill after their high school JROTC experiences are behind them!

The competition maintains two divisions: Solo drill competition, we well as dual exhibition for pairs drilling. New this year, the entire IWDC competition will be held on a single day only (no more preliminary/medal round competition) in a special area designated within the Exposition Hall of the Ocean Center (see the tentative event schedule and floor maps for greater details). This facility has been praised by past drillers as one of the better indoor drill facilities in use today with concrete flooring, dark ceilings with advaced lighting, comfortable seating and scheduled indoor practice areas.

For complete details regarding the specific rules and regulations in use for the IWDC, please carefully review the IWDC SOP.

Competition times will be garnered through a blind draw and posted on-line in the week prior to the event. Event competitors will be listed on this website beginning on April 1st. All event paperwork and communication will be handled via this website and through email contact. All IWDC competitors MUST HAVE ACCESS TO EMAIL and will only be officially entered into the competition when the Event Manager (SNI) has received both the IWDC Registration Form and the IWDC Entry Fee (no exceptions). Other required paperwork must be submitted within a timely manner as well. Competitors may not compete unless all required paperwork has been submitted in advance of the event.

Score sheets are totalled immediately following the performances, however scores are not released until the Masters Level Awards Ceremony held Monday night at the Ocean Center Arena. This amazing extravaganza provides a fitting end to the weekend of drill excellence. The venue is home to a formal affair with high ranking military officials on hand from each branch of the military. The ceremony itself is impressive, with a raised carpeted stage filled with event judges in dress uniform, multiple video screens for highlight playback and other video display, as well as over 4,000 attending cadets from the NHSDTC competition.

Amazing engraved awards, medals and cash prizes are provided the the event top finishers by the event creator and benefactor, Mr. Abdul Al-Romaizan. Without question, the ISIS World Drill Championships remain the finest overall competition available to post-high school drillers. We welcome entries from throughout the world and look forward to seeing all of you at the Championships.
