Restriction on Certain Types of Shoe Tap Removed
Currently, the event SOP regulates the type of shoe taps allowed at the competition. This regulation has been removed. Any form of shoe tap will be permitted at the Air Force Nationals event.
Minor Clarification to the Cadence within the SOP - (REV4: pg.4-5 - items 8-12)
Simple clarification to the why of cadence along with greater details in related areas - no changes.
Revision of Drill Area Locations - WESTERN EVENT ONLY
The AF Western Division floor layout has been modified slighly to allow the Armed and Unarmed events to happen throughout the day in many of the same areas, thereby utilizing less total competition space. Changes include:
1) Color guard competition areas have been made identical and have been moved to the main floor area. This will allow all spectators to see the event from the comfort of the their seats. The entry position changed slightly;
2) The two other big competition areas have been included within the existing big drill areas and will be run one following the other. THE ENTRY POSITIONS AND HEAD JUDGE LOCATIONS HAVE NOT CHANGED!;
3) The Inspection Ready Areas Rooms have moved from the rooms across the hall to the massive hallway/lobby area of the 2nd floor. Teams waiting next up to be inspected will still align themselves against the wall next to the entry door in column formation until summoned into the area by the Head Judge.
Change to Unarmed Regulation Sequence - BOTH EASTERN & WESTERN EVENTS
The Unarmed Regulation sequences for the Eastern & Western Air Force Championships have been slightly altered at the beginning on commands #1 through #6. The new scoresheets maintain the first command of Dress Right Dress. If your Unarmed Regulation sequence begins with Order Arms, it is WRONG! This change was undertaken to remove a confusing command which led units to believe that a platoon salute for report-in was appropriate for regulation drill (it is NOT!). Please ensure your cadets are versed in these few revised commands to maintain a top score.
Clarification to Uniform Requirements - BOTH EASTERN & WESTERN EVENTS
The uniform regulations outlined within the SOP (Section 1, E, 1 & Section 1, E, 2) are contradictory and confusing. The Reasonable Man Test which is subscribed to here at the AF Nationals will have the judges briefed as follows regarding the proper wear of the Full Service Dress Uniform as outlined within the event regs:
1) Full Service Dress Uniform in INSPECTION will be expected (to include Name tags, ribbons, etc.)
2) Full Service Dress Uniform in REGULATION (name tags, ribbons, etc. may be removed from the coat to keep the uniform from getting ripped up).
3) Full Service Dress Uniform in COLOR GUARD (but you may remove your service coat as it can be too restrictive to execute color guard properly).
NO POINT DEDUCTIONS WILL OCCUR FOR ANY SCHOOL WHO CHOOSES NOT TO WEAR THE COAT IN ANY EVENT!
