2010 AIR FORCE NATIONAL
JROTC DRILL CLASSIC
SOP UPDATE & CLARIFICATION PAGE
Below are listed the SOP updates/clarification that are in effect for the upcoming competition. Please check back weekly to ensure no changes have been made. The SOP changes/clarifications site will be finalized on Friday at noon EST, one week prior to the competition start date when the official event start times are posted on this website. As updates are made, the changes are included within the event SOP.
EVENT SOP UPDATES
1) POSTED: SEPTEMBER 24TH, 2009 SOP, Invite, Reg Form, Floor Diagrams and Scoresheets Now Posted!
The basic materials needed to enter and compete in the 2010 AF Nationals have been posted.
2) POSTED: JANUARY 21ST, 2010 - MAJOR CHANGE! Color Guard Regulations Typo
AF Nationals Color Guard units will execute flag uncase procedures in accordance with the ARMY FM 3-21.5. The SOP incorrectly states to utilize the Air Force Manual.
3) POSTED: JANUARY 21ST, 2010 - MAJOR CHANGE! Color Guard Sequence Verbiage Change
AF Nationals Color Guard units will execute all marching maneuvers in accordance with the AFMAN 36-2203. The sequence as posted is still written in the Army vernacular from previous years. This will be changed and updated in the next few days. THE SEQUENCE WILL NOT CHANGE, only the commands will change to reflect an Air Force command style versus the Army verbiage currently listed.
4) POSTED: JANUARY 26TH, 2010 - MAJOR CHANGE! ARMED Regulation Sequence Commands Flipped
AF Nationals Armed Regulation Sequence makes a minor change but it is very important so it really is a MAJOR change! Line 1 and line 2 were switched to ensure the unit was taken out of line formation to execute the count off and close/extend command. Schools will now execute "Right Face", THEN "Count Off". NO OTHER CHANGES WERE REQUIRED. All schools must ensure this change is made to receive the proper score for your unit.
5) POSTED: JANUARY 26TH, 2010 - MINOR CHANGE! Cadence Sheets Changed
Minor housekeeping change was made to the Regulation and Color Guard Cadence Sheets. The "count" the judges will execute was wrongly listed at 60 seconds. We wanted to change this to 30 seconds after feedback from the judges and the schools who attended last year. Therefore, no changes from the attending team standpoint, but the look of the scoresheet has changed.
6) POSTED: FEBRUARY 2ND, 2010 - MAJOR CHANGE! Final Army Verbiage Removed from the Color Guard Sequences
Omission allowed Army Commands (Colors Reverse, March) to remain on the scoresheets. These were removed and replaced with the appropriate Air Force Command (Left/Right About, March). Again, no changes to the basic sequence, simply in the verbal command and proper execution of this Air Force movement.
7) FEBRUARY 18TH, 2010 - MAJOR CHANGE! ENTRY POINT & HEAD JUDGE POSITION shifts in Regulation Drill
To ensure both the Armed & Unarmed Sequences can be executed within the prescribed area, the position of the Head Judge and the physical entry point has been revised slightly. This judge has been moved to the "short" side of the drill area with the entry on the same side on the judges immediate right (new diagram posed on-line reflects this). THIS WILL NOT CHANGE THE PRESCRIBED SEQUENCE AT ALL!.
8) FEBRUARY 18TH, 2010 - MAJOR CHANGE! ARMED FLIGHT REGULATION COMMAND CHANGE
On the sequence sheet, command #17 currently states "COLUMN LEFT, MARCH". This should read "Column RIGHT, March". This change has been olaced on the scoresheets that are posted on-line. Schools should ensure this change is in place in their execution..
9) FEBRUARY 23RD, 2010 - MAJOR CHANGE! ARMED FLIGHT REGULATION COMMAND CHANGE BACK!
THE COMMAND CHANGE made in #8 above is not needed and in fact, makes the sequence impossible to execute correctly. Therefore, schools should NOT make this change and should maintain the original COLUMN LEFT, MARCH on command #17 on their scoresheet. This bad change has been eliminated on the scoresheets that are posted on-line. Sorry guys, I owe everyone a drink of juice for this one! Violated rule #324: Never make sequence "improvements" between 0300 and 0400 in the morning!.
10) MARCH 3RD, 2010 - MINOR CORRECTION! UNARMED FLIGHT REGULATION NUMBER TOTAL CORRECTION
The three scoresheets in use for this event were supposed to equal 1,000 points together (340+330+330). The two Overall Impression totals were inadvertently written in too high and they have been corrected from 50 points to 30 points each. This will change nothing frankly as propoertional scoring makes this total somewhat irrelevant..
11) MARCH 4th, 2010 - NO FURTHER CHANGES PERMITTED TO THIS SITE NO MORE CHANGES WILL BE POSTED TO THIS SITE
Any other minor change would be handles on-arrival but it is extremely unlikely anything further will be modified. Thank you for your efforts to keep up to date for the good of your team. We look forward to seeing all of you in the coming weeks.
Thank you, good luck and safe travel to all attendees!
