Eastern Camp - Western Camp

GENERAL INFORMATION
Regardless of how you travel to the NDC, it is important that you know a few simple things. First, you entire camp experience depends on you GETTING TO THE CAMP SAFELY AND ON TIME! If you are driving yourself or having others take you, please drive safely and take breaks during your trip to reduce the chance of fatigue!

Second, please ensure you book your travel into and out of camp on the correct days and at times that will allow you to enjoy your experience. Cadets should plan if at all possible to arrive at the NDC no later than 4pm local time. This will give you the chance to attend the opening night dinner, as well as the activities and discussions that occur that evening to get to know your fellow camper a bit before we hit the ground running the next day.

When departing, cadets can leave very late Friday night but we strongly advise against that! Friday night is the last night to do things with the campers and every cadet has stated they loved their Friday night experiences. On a Saturday departure, understand that ground shuttle service times will dictate what flights may be available for your travel. Campers should try to leave in the mid-morning timeframe (before noon) to ensure that weather or any flight cancellations will allow re-booking on another flight that same day. Those departing by car need to be picked up before noon.

Traveling by car to either location poses several obvious advantages, the largest likely being a reduced cost to attend as well as the ability to easily transport your drill rifle to the camp if you choose to bring it. If traveling by air, please ensure you understand the airlines policy on additional baggage fees, as well as costs and restrictions on transporting your non-functional drill rifle. Make sure to call the airline to ask what their policies are regarding your weapon.

Travel Information on the Eastern Drill Camp
GEORGIA

Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Georgia is the new home of the Eastern Nationals Drill Camp. This is the perfect home for the Eastern location of the Nationals Drill Camp. It is a beautiful and spaciuos campus with state-of-the-art facilities. It is roughly 65 miles away from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). This airport is a major hub and provides great rates and a large number of flights daily. It is easy to get to via car or airplane with major highway travel speeding your trip.

For plane flights I have found the best rates are available on-line on Orbitz. Again, you should ensure that you are flying into Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Shuttle service will be available as outlined below.

Sports Network International will be providing round-trip shuttle service to-from the Atlanta Airport for a flat fee for all attendees needing to get from the airport to the camp and then returning. The cost for this shuttle should not be more than $65 round-trip, we are working out the details and will publish the exact cost as soon as possible. The shuttle will depart 3 times throughout the day from the airport to ensure attendees do not wait long for their ride. Doing this keeps the costs down considerably. Conversely, when the camp has ended, shuttle service will be available at numerous time during the day to ensure every attendee reaches the airport safely and in plenty of time to make their flight. ALL SHUTTLE SERVICES will only be available on the FIRST DAY OF CAMP (SATURDAY) and the LAST DAY OF CAMP (SATURDAY). Anyone looking to arrange airline flights leaving on Friday Night or coming in later than these standard travel days will need to make their own transportation arrangements.

NOTE: Atlanta is a very large airport with SIX different concourses. Cadets will need to find their way to their baggage and then to our shuttle's location. We strongly advise that all attendees carry a cellular phone with them in case they get lost in the airport. Before cadets and instructors leave home, they will be given DETAILED information on how to find the shuttle location as well as a cell phone number of our staff member who will be on-site at the airport.

For bus travel, there is but one source nationally and that is Greyhound. They serve areas across the country. Although there is a Greyhound station in Gainesville, you will need to contact SNI in advance regarding transportation from the bus station to the Riverside M.A. campus. TAKING THE BUS CAN BE A VERY AFFORDABLE AND EFFORTLESS METHOD OF TRAVEL FOR CADETS!

Here is a detailed travel document as many people are expected to drive to the Eastern Camp.
Travel Information on the Western Drill Camp
TEXAS

Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas is outside Houston (roughly 90 miles to the SOUTHEAST). It is easy to get to via car, airplane or bus with major highway travel from throughout the entire state of Texas and numerous airports.

Attendees may fly into Easterwood-College Station (CLL) airport (5 minutes from camp) for the easiest way to attend. However, this small airport can be expensive to use with limited daily flights so you should check Houston airports as well before making a final decision. If you choose to fly into Houston (IAH or HOU), keep in mind that you will need to pay an additional round-trip shuttle service fee (currently $60 to the camp). To book this shuttle and for assistance with your airline tickets, you can contact our official travel center for the Western NDC, A&M Travel listed below. Cadets should note that SNI will arrange FREE shuttle service to/from the campus for your flights at the nearby Easterwood (College Station) airport so factor this in when pricing tickets.

If you wish to book travel yourself, I have found the best rates and service on-line on Orbitz and on the indicidual airline websites. Cadets should also check many of the discount airlines that do not list with Orbitz if going into Houston. Again, you should check the Easterwood Airport in College Station, Texas first as this is the most convenient. Then I would certainly check flights and fares into both Houston Airports (Houston Hobby [HOU] and George Bush International [IAH]). NOTE: Check with A&M Travel Services (listed below) regarding shuttle service from both Houston airports BEFORE booking non-refuendable travel!

Sports Network works with a local travel agency in College Station that has an impeccable reputation and can ensure all of your travel needs are handled without issue. They book most all of the shuttle services for attendees and can ensure your shuttle can get you to correct airline and airport! It is not required that you book any travel or transportation through them, but we recommend contacting them if you need any of these services for problem-free attendance. The name of the company is A&M Travel in College Station. You can ask for Wanda Paris at 979/846-8881, or anyone there can assist.

For bus travel, there is but one national source for ground travel coast-to-coast and that is Greyhound. They serve areas across the nation including College Station/Bryan, Texas (home of the NDC). If you take the bus to the NDC, SNI will arrange free shuttle service to/from the bus station in College Station to the camp as the bus station is just minutes from the campus - however, this does need to be arranged in advance.
