2007 VOLUSIA COUNTY MILITARY SALUTE WEEKEND EVENT OVERVIEW "The recent history of liberty has been made largely through the courage & determination of the United States Armed Forces." - Justin Gates, Sports Network Int'l

The first weekend in May, local event manager Sports Network International will host the Volusia County Military Salute Weekend. This event will feature performances designed to recognize and give thanks to the men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces. World famous military performance units including the U.S. Army Old Guard Drill Team as well as the King's Guard Drill Team from Honolulu, Hawaii are scheduled to attend, as well as the just-added Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team from Washington, DC. These preeminent units will be featured along with the largest military drill competition in the world, the three-day National High School Drill Team Championships. This military drill & ceremony event will feature over 150 JROTC units and 4000 cadets from around the world competing in over 30 events that maintain high intensity, crowd-pleasing marching and rifle maneuvers. The epicenter for this entire weekend of activity will be the Daytona Beach Ocean Center Arena.

Numerous area sponsors have jumped on board to support this worthwhile event with new contributors coming in weekly. These sponsors are largely local business interests who believe as does Sports Network International that a weekend like this is long overdue. These sponsors are making it possible for the event to occur and their interest and inclusion should be applauded. Mostly, their inclusion provides the resources to involve hundreds of active duty and retired military personal from all services to be a part of this special weekend for the entertainment and respectful appreciation of the civilians that sleep under the very blanket of freedom these individuals provide.

Currently, Sports Network International as the event host is working with several influential members of the local military community. We are working with these people to assemble WWII veterans, Vietnam , Korea, Desert Storm and other conflicts to be apart of this celebration. Others who have made significant contributions via past or present military service to the freedoms this great country now maintain are also being sought to ensure their sacrifices are recognize and appreciated.
