A DATE CHANGE FOR THE CENTRAL NYFC IN LUBBOCK?
date_change

For the first time in the history of the NYFC, a competition date needs to be changed after posting! If we're changing the date just three months prior to the competition, you can imagine we have some pretty strong reasons! It may not seem like a big deal to move the event forward one weekend with so much lead time to prepare, but it is to us at SNI and here is the full story for those that are interested!

WHY WAS THE DATE SELECTED ORIGINALLY?
The date was originally selected to be two weeks prior to Thanksgiving Weekend to ensure the event was held at the same date as the historical home of the post season tournament run by NYFC partner, Mr. Sammy Hererra. The successful football tournament that was the precurser to the NYFC Central was always held two weeks prior to the NYFC and we wanted to keep that same pattern. This date would also allow us to host the NYFC during the Red River Shootout (Texas Tech vs. Oklahome State). We were looking to get a small section of seats for the NYFC teams at the Red River Shootout and have the teams be able to run on the field as a part of the NYFC spectacular.

SOUNDS GOOD SO FAR - WHY THE CHANGE?
No one single factor pointed us to make the change, but three HUGE factors made this an easy call to make the weekend before Thanksgiving the historic home date for the NYFC Central event in Lubbock. These included:

  1. The Red River Classic football game Texas Tech vs. Oklahome St. is so huge,it was almost impossible to obtain decent hotel rooms at an affordable price.
  2. Several large leagues in Texas and Oklahome that desperately wished to participate hold their league championship game on the same posted weekend.
  3. Several Leagues asked if there was any way we could move the event one week later to give their teams an extra week to rest and prepare to attend.

The bottom line...the only thing worse than making a bad date decision at first would be sticking to that decision even when everything was telling you a vastly better choice is easy to see. And when a table of people are surrounding you with over 200 years of collective football experience and they all share the same opionion, YOU CHANGE THE DATE AND MOVE FORWARD!

With this new date in hand, hotel listings will be posted hopefully by this weekend (AT VASTLY LOWER PRICES!), as well as tentative schedule of events, and other event specific information. Thank you for the support and we look forward to seeing many of you in late November at the NYFC Central in beautiful Lubbock, Texas.
