Arrival & Departure Procedures
Arrival Procedures
Cadets and instructors attending the Nationals Drill Camp should plan to arrive in Kerrville, Texas at the Schreiner University campus on Day 1 between the hours of 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. If you need to arrive later than this, we will make special arrangements regarding getting you registered and into your room.
All attendees should come directly to the Registration Location. Upon arrival you will begin in-processing and will be given camp materials, your official platoon assignment (also sent out in advance), and your dorm assignment. You will then be escorted to the dormitory where you can drop off your luggage.
Departure Procedures
The last official function of the NDC will be on the evening of Day 6. Parents are welcome to join their cadet for the closing night awards dinner that evening at 5:30pm. Please note that any parents or other guests that wish to join cadets for the closing night awards dinner must pay in advance for this meal. Contact SNI at 800-327-9311 to pay by phone. Spots for this dinner are extremely limited! Parents are also welcome to take their cadet home this evening.
Cadets and instructors should plan to depart on Day 7 at any time from pre-dawn until 11:00 am. You may check-out and leave the campus at any time that morning. Cadets wishing to depart earlier than this time must arrange for this in advance with NDC staff and have the permission of their parents. Cadets will be asked to check out of their rooms and bring their luggage to the dorm lobby that morning. All rooms will be inspected for cleanliness prior to the cadet's departure.
Travel Information
By Car
If driving or being driven to camp, plan to arrive between 10am and 4pm. We do not want any cadets missing the opening night dinner if at all possible!
If your cadet will be driving themself and keeping their car on-site while attending the NDC, there is not a charge for parking during the camp, but any attending cadet (regardless of age) will not be allowed to drive their car during the camp for any reason. This, of course, will not apply to attending instructors.
Please plan to pick up your cadet either immediately following the closing night ceremony on day 6 or NO LATER than 11am on the final day of camp. Cadets will need to turn in their camp bedding and return their dorm key before they are dismissed.
Important: NO cadets younger than 15 are allowed to check into camp alone. If your cadet is 14 or younger, a parent or designated guardian (21+) must be present to check in the cadet.
By Plane
For cadets traveling by air, Sports Network International offers airport shuttle service to and from San Antonio International Airport (SAT). The shuttle service is $85 round trip or $45 for a one-way shuttle.
Arrival Instructions
- Flights into SAT should arrive no later than 2:30pm to allow cadets time to get to campus before 4pm
- If your cadet has paid for shuttle service, they will meet at the designated pick-up point to board the shuttle
- SNI staff are available 24/7 to make sure cadets/parents can call with questions
Departure Instructions
- Return flights should be booked for as early as 6am or as late as 2pm
- There will be an EARLY morning shuttle and a mid-morning shuttle for departing flights. Cadets will be sorted into these shuttles based on flight times and head counted to make sure no one is left behind.
- SNI will ensure that your cadet is on time and in the right place for any ground transport you have arranged as well as air travel. We often get the cadets to the airport WELL in advance of their flight time to ensure they do not rush to make their plane. Cadets must be able to handle themselves for several hours by themselves. SNI does not have the staff to wait with cadets in the airport.
Important Notes
- ALL PARENTS MUST ENSURE THEY DO NOT BOOK RETURN TRAVEL LATE IN THE DAY! Please make sure there is another return flight scheduled after your flight that you book on the departure day of camp. This will ensure that should your scheduled flight be cancelled for any reason, your cadet will have a solid chance of being placed on the NEXT flight home. Non-stop flights are preferred whenever possible to eliminate lay-over issues. SNI cannot be held responsible for connection issues, but we will assist wherever possible.
- All cadets traveling via air must have access to a cellular phone in case of emergencies and for direct communications – NO EXCEPTIONS!

We post semi-regular updates on our Camp Facebook page throughout the week, and cadets are given an hour of free time each evening should they choose to use their phones to communicate with loved ones. In case of emergency, the primary guardian will be contacted immediately. Non-emergency questions should be directed to Brie Gates (brie@thenationals.net) during business hours.

Personal electronic devices are permitted, but will not be allowed outside of the dorm rooms until the final night of camp. While participating in training, phones, apple watches, headphones, etc. must be left in the cadet's dorm room.
Visitor Policy
Parents are not permitted to visit their cadets at camp beyond specified arrival and departure instructions unless specifically authorized by SNI due to an extenuating circumstance. Parents who purchase a seat at the awards dinner on the final night of camp can see their cadet then and even check them out after this dinner if desired.
Discipline & Behavior
All campers are expected to follow camp rules and demonstrate respect for staff, fellow campers, and property. Serious behavioral issues may result in dismissal from camp without refund.
Early Departure
Should an extenuating circumstance (illness, family emergency, mental health issue, etc.) befall your cadet, we will communicate swiftly with the primary guardian to coordinate an early departure from camp if requested. Your cadet's safety and wellbeing is our TOP priority.
